Monica Jimenez | Artist & Designer

"Almost anybody can learn to think or believe or know, but it's very difficult to learn to feel. Why? Because whenever you think or you believe or you know, you're a lot of other people: but the moment you feel, you're nobody - but - yourself."

"A Poet's Advice"

E.E. Cummings

My name is Monica Jimenez and I am

a Peruvian artist and designer. My background is in fine arts, fashion design, and graphic design, but I have always felt curious about different ways to create in general.

I have experience as a teacher, fashion analyst, and since 2013, I have been able to focus mainly on Graphic Design. I've had the chance to work for private companies and non-profits in both Peru and Richmond, VA, as an in-house and freelance designer, developing digital and printed materials, branding and more for them.

I moved to Richmond, VA with my husband in April of 2017. I worked for

the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as their Marketing & Communications Coordinator for two years. I currently work as the Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator of Latinos in Virginia Empowerment Center, a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to helping victims of violence and injustice in the Hispanic community through culturally, linguistically, and confidential services.

In the Fall of 2019, I decided to join Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts to complete my Graphic Design degree. I expect to Graduate in the Fall of 2022.
